Jasmine Aulia is a student of the Electrical Engineering Program at the Vocational School of Diponegoro University, class of 2017. In 2019, she successfully received an award at the Thailand Investor Day 2019, an international competition organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), which is a royal research institution in Thailand.
The competition consists of project presentations and an innovation expo. “The work I presented in this event was Fishco-Box,” said the young woman who enjoys watching movies and traveling.
“Fishco-Box is a post-harvest fish cooling device designed for fishermen, especially in Indonesia, a country known for having one of the richest biodiversities in the world. The purpose of this tool is to help fishermen preserve their fish after harvesting, before selling them to distributors or traditional markets, so that the fish remain fresh and suitable for consumption.
This tool is environmentally friendly, inexpensive, and easy to produce, as it uses recycled materials that do not harm the environment. This competition, which focuses on science and innovation, showcases the latest breakthroughs from around the world. Many countries participated in the event, including Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, the United States, South Korea, China, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, India, Poland, Germany, Japan, Turkey, and many others,” she added.
The Electrical Engineering student of the Vocational School at Diponegoro University has achieved numerous awards at both national and international levels, including: Bronze Medal at Thailand Investor Day 2019, 2nd Place in LKTIN TUN IMC 2019, 3rd Place in the Diponegoro University Diploma Program’s Outstanding Student Selection (Mawapres) 2019, Bronze Medal at the Seoul International Invention Fair 2018, and a Research Grant Award from Diponegoro University in 2018.
Now in her fourth semester, Jasmine hopes to build and develop a startup after graduating. “Many young people today dream of working in comfortable zones, such as becoming civil servants or state-owned enterprise employees. I want to change that mindset, because success is not only achieved by working for others — we can also find success through entrepreneurship,” expressed the Jakarta-born innovator.
