History
The establishment of the Vocational School of Diponegoro University as the managing unit for diploma programs cannot be separated from the governance of diploma education at the university. Until 2016, diploma programs—specifically Diploma III—were incorporated within various faculties at Diponegoro University, aligned with their respective fields of study. In line with the change in Diponegoro University’s legal status to a State University with Legal Entity (PTN-BH), as stipulated in the Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 52 of 2015 concerning the Statute of Diponegoro University, the university subsequently integrated the management of all Diploma programs into one institution equivalent to a faculty, known as the Vocational School. Based on Rector’s Regulation Number 4 of 2016 regarding the Academic Senate’s Approval for the Establishment of the Vocational School, the Vocational School of Diponegoro University was officially formed, as stated in the Rector’s Decree Number 1250/UN7.P/HK/2016 on the Establishment of the Vocational School of Diponegoro University.
The Vocational School develops applied science programs at the bachelor’s (D4/Applied Bachelor), master’s, and doctoral levels, as well as certified competency-based vocational training under national and international schemes. At the time of its establishment, the Vocational School of Diponegoro University comprised 24 Diploma III programs, which were consolidated from all Diploma III programs previously managed by individual faculties at Diponegoro University. Subsequently, these Diploma III programs were reorganized into four departments and eleven Applied Bachelor (D4) study programs, as stipulated in the Rector’s Decree Number 420/UN7.P/HK/2019 concerning the Establishment of Departments, Study Programs, and Divisions within Faculties and Schools at Diponegoro University. The Department of Industrial Technology is one of the academic units within the Vocational School, responsible for supporting academic activities at the Vocational School of Diponegoro University. Currently, the Department of Industrial Technology oversees five Applied Bachelor (Applied S.Tr) study programs: Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology, Automation Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design Engineering, Industrial Electrical Engineering, and Naval Architecture Engineering Technology. The Applied Bachelor (S.Tr) Program in Industrial Electrical Engineering was established through the Rector’s Decree Number 521/UN7.P/HK/2019. This program is a transformation of the Diploma III Electrical Engineering Program at Diponegoro University, which is accredited “B” until 2024, based on the decree of the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) Number 1952/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/Dipl-III/VII/2018. At its inception, the Diploma III Electrical Engineering Program operated under PAT UNDIP (Pendidikan Ahli Teknologi, Diponegoro University). It later became part of FNGT UNDIP, and in 1993, it was integrated into the Faculty of Engineering. Today, graduates of the Diploma III Electrical Engineering Program are widely distributed across various regions in Indonesia and abroad.
